You're limited to 56 colors at any one time. However, if you choose
Tools/Options/Colors and click Modify, you can change any of the 56 to a
color of your choice.

Good afternoon Nick

Excel uses a 56 colour palette, so you cannot use more than this in any
document, but you can create your own colours, you're not limited to the
standard selection. Just go to Tools Options, Colors, Modify... and
take it from there.

Excel is limited to 56 colors, but you can assign any color you
like to the pallet of available colors. Go to the Tools menu,
choose Options, then Colors.

You can select any RGB Color... however the results are still dependant on
the Activeworkbook.colors Palette.
