excel 2000 shuts down on its own

While working in a spreadshead, (I am running WinxpProsp2) my Excel closes
down and I lose all of my data. I have sufficient memory and the computer is
newer. Any suggestions?

I do not really know but when you Start excel, do you start it from
Excel.exe? If not then do so.

In ExcelXp there is a window to the right that shows what type of workbook
you may want to open. Close it. Do not open a workbook from shortcuts. Go
directly to the workbook name and open into Excel (.exe).

Opening from shortcuts or recently used lists does not make the current
directory the activeworkbook directory.

When you save the workbook, try to make sure the directory is the
activeworkbook directory.
To do this
File Open then select the folder where you should be. Click the close
button. This action sets the current directory to your selection.

You could make a toolbar button with a macro

Sub Change_My_Dir
chdir activeworkbook.path
end sub
