Default Recording changes

We use a spreadsheet for stock control, but we have disputes between
production and accounts about when information has been entered.

Is there a way to enter time and date in a cell, to record when information
in a row is changed or added, or a new row is created. looking for a last
changed column that we can protect. This would stop any disputes (in theory)

Know it's a tall order, but hoping you heroes and heroines can help.

Paul,

See "About tracking changes" in the Excel Help File.

You can have the changes tracked in a shared workbook either directly
in the sheet where the changes were made or on a separate history page
(which you could protect and hide from other users).

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks Steve.. This is exactly what I was looking for..........but
We're having problems when more than one person opens the spreadhseet at the
same time. Is it possible to have the spreadsheet locked i.e only avaliable
as read only for other users, untils it's "released"

Defeats the object of "sharing" I know, but we only want the
tracking/history information.

Thanks
