Gathering Survey data

Hi,

Please can someone point me in the right direction.

I need to create a survey - which can be completed very quickly using
Excel on a Pocket PC/PDA. It will have 6 or so Yes/No -
Question/Answers.

Is it possible to be able to simply press Yes or No, and that response
be collated in a spreadsheet when finished. The data would be collected
off hundreds of respondants quickly so it needs to be fairly
interactive. Probably some help sheet somewhere?? Suppose the question
is that can a macro or hyperlink generate a field to be populated in
the background?

Thanks

Andrew

Gathering Survey data

Hello,

There are several useful MS techniques for this.

One way could be Windows Server 2003 + SharePoint Team Services (it is
free), where the survey would be done in a web page. This is a very fast and
easy way to create a survey, but the drawback is that for large a number of
recipients, it is quite big job to do just for this purpose. Also this is not
an option, if recipients cannot access the server where survey page is.
However, if you already have SharePoint up and running and recipients there,
this is a noteworthy option.

Another method would be voting buttons in Outlook and send the survey as
email message. It has been a long time since I tried it, but as far as I
remember you have to have Exchange for this to work. Results can be copied to
Excel. This option might be useful, if the recipients have Outlook. Following
Outlook help topics can be useful:
1) Add voting buttons to a message
2) Copy voting results to Excel

Possible drawback with this option might be that it might not support
several questions, however, this I don't remember. First option does not have
this drawback. I have used both methods, each has its specific weaknesses and
strengths. There might be some other options as well.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
