Format email addresses
I sort an address book of email addresses with excel and it is annoying to have my email program popup when I click on a cell containing a blue email address. I would like to format the cell so that the entry is not recognized by excel as an email address. Using "text" doesn't do it. |

You probably see a small blue underline just under the normal underline.
Click that, and you'll get the options to turn off automatic creation of hyperlinks -- Kind regards, Niek Otten "Unknown" wrote in message ... ,;Check out: ,; ,;http://www.mcgimpsey.com/excel/nohyperlinks.html This reference led to a solution. If you go into the auto correct options you can set the sheet in "Autoformat as you type" so that it will not create hyperlinks by un-checking the box. There is an option to "remove hyperlink". Unfortunately it will only do one cell at a time but fortunately I wasn't too far in the list so this was easier than retyping the list. The problem is solved. Thanks |
