XNPV - cant recognise dates

I am using an XPNV formula, but excel wont recognise the date. It returns a
#name? error. I received the file from someone else, so it may be my version
of excel.

Can anyone suggest how to sort out the error?

XNPV - cant recognise dates

XPVN is not a built-in Excel function. The sender of the file might have
this in a PERSONAL.XLS workbook.
