Page breaks are different in Windows 2000 and Windows XP
I have a worksheet that prints page breaks differently in Windows 2000 and
Windows XP. Windows XP seems to sometimes print one or two lines less per page than Windows 2000. This causes different users to get different results when printing. I tested on one W2K and one XP system. Of the two systems I tested, both are running Office 2003 at the same service pack, all Microsoft updates applied, same HP 8150 printer, and same printer driver versions. I have checked printer settings on both systems, and I cannot find any settings that are different between the two installations. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a solution? |
Page breaks are different in Windows 2000 and Windows XP
Just a thought...
I've always figured that different printer drivers (even between versions of windows) for the same physical printer are different (probably a wildly incorrect assumption!). But since I can't always be sure what type of printer (much less what version of windows) a user has, I always try to make my print layout as conservative as I can. The margins are usually too large for most printers--just for that one printer that needs a large margin. I try to put less on the page by inserting my own pagebreaks where I figure they'll do the least damage. Or I take the opposite approach. I assume that no one will print it and just give up caring!
