past rows into columns

is there a way in excel that i can use to copy the values of a few rows into
columns.

for example:

a1: 1
a2: 2
a3: 3
a4: 4

copy a1:a4 and paste so that b1: 1, c1:2, d1: 3, e1:4

thanks in advance.

Copy the range, then select the first cell to paste into. Then,
go to the Edit menu, choose Paste Special, and check the
Transpose option.
