Problem with pasting
 

Can anyone help me when I paste my formulas the pasted cells retain the
values of the original cells - this has never happened before - have I
pressed something I shouldn't?

Problem with pasting
 
Sounds like your calculation is set to manual.
Reset it to auto by:
<Tools <Options <Calculation tab,
And click in "Automatic".

Then check out this old post as to the reason you might have inadvertently
caused this change in calc mode to occur:
