Default EXcel 2003 Page setup slow

When I need to format the worksheet, the page setup functions takes about 8
secs to load. The same in page preview, any alterations to formats take the
same time. Previous version '97 was less that a split second. Help I can't
work this way.

I'm guessing that it slows down to go to the printer driver to see how things
should be laid out.

You may want to try getting a fresh printer driver (from the manufacturer's
site).

Or installing a new printer that points at a local printer--even if you don't
have that physical printer.

Thanks. Excel was looking at remote printer. You were right first time.

Would changing printers from one using an LPT1 connection to a USB connection
also slow down Page Setup? I have home PC with only one printer.

You don't need the actual physical printer to test. Just install the driver or
use one of the MS installed printers.

If you've removed all of them, you may want to install a pdf printer driver
(www.primopdf.com). It'll serve as a test printer and also be useful if you
want to create pdf files from any application.
