Non Printing of Cell borders

Hi

I have been asked to do a small xcell spreadsheet invoice layout for a
local charity

To make the layout simple to use i have a border around some input
cells

However the charity use preprinted invoices so i dont need the cell
borders printed

Is there a way to keep the border onscreen and not have the cell
borders printed

thanks

You could record a macro when you remove the borders, print the worksheet, put
the borders back.

Then instead of file|print or hitting the print icon, you'd just run that macro.

If you don't write any line on the screen it will not print any line on
paper eventhough you can stil see the border on the screen.

If you drew lines on the screen and don't want it to be printed, turn
off the border line using the tools menu - options - view - then check
off the frame line(?) I'm sorry I couldn't find the exact word since
I'm using non-English version.

Let me translate for Hideki...he's on to something here.

on the main menu, click InsertPictureAutoShapes

in the box that opens, click Basic Shapes (3rd from left?) and click
Rectangles

Your cursor changes to a crosshair. Position in the upper left of the
desired cell to outline, click and drag to outline this cell. You will
now have an 'object' above your cell.

With the cursor over top of the object, right click and select 'Format
Autoshape'. In the box that opens, on the Colors and Lines tab, set
the Color to 'No Fill'. Set the line wt. to something like 2.25 or 3
(for a heavy line around the cell). Finally, click on the 'Properties'
tab and uncheck 'Print object'. Click OK to apply these settings.

Does this work for you?

Non Printing of Cell borders

Ok we are getting there

the set print area method is best for me as it prints only the info i
require

however i have another problem which is baffling me

the selected print areas are on different parts of the page, but when i
print the page each print area prints on a seperate sheet of paper

when i setup the print areas from page break view i can see the
highlighted print areas
with page1,page2,page3 etc.. page1 being in print area1 and page2
being in print area 2 etc...

i want all the print areas to print on the same sheet of paper as its
viewed on screen
any ideas

thanks in advance

This is the way excel works with discontiguous print areas.

You do have a couple of options, though.

1. If you're lucky, you can hide the rows/columns you don't need to print so
that it looks like one contiguous range.

2. Copy the ranges to a new worksheet and print from there.

3. Copy the ranges, but paste as pictures on that new worksheet.
create a new worksheet
copy the first range (select, edit|Copy)
to the new sheet (select A1, shift-edit|Paste picture link)
do the same with the second range

What's nice about this is when you change the original ranges, the pictures
will update--so you don't have to worry about doing the work twice.
