I am missing the blank area that duplicates what I type in a cell - it
duplicates it near the top of the Excel Page. All at once it has disappeared.
If I correct anything in a cell I have to go to the cell --- I prefer going
up to the top sometimes and correcting it in that area. But that area is GONE.

From the View Menu select Formula Bar.

The area you are talking about is called the Formula Bar.

To show it go to: Tools Options View and in the area labelled
"Show" you'll see the name "Formula Bar". Put a check mark beside it
(by clicking on it) and then click on OK.
