Excel crashes from explorer

Hi

When I try to open an excel file from windows explorer (or from lotus
notes), excel starts but does not open my file.

However, if I use the file-open menu option from excel and choose the
same file, it does open.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

That doesn't really sound like excel is crashing to me.

Sometimes one of these works:

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.
