pivot refresh clears pivot fields?

Observation:
One file opened in Excel 2002 SP2 has no problem, when opened in Excell SP-3
the pivot fields (columns) are cleared when the pivot tabel is being
refreshed either manually or by a macro.

Does anyone have a tip to avoid this behaviour?
