cursor tracks / highlights recalculating cell?

Hi - I've inherited a worksheet in which, when a row is inserted in a
certain place and then data is entered into a certain cell, the cursor
will highlight a few individual cells in sequence as they are
recalculated. I've never known about this behavior, and I don't know
how to turn it on / off.

Can someone please help!

Thanks!

I can add more info, now.

The formulas that end up appearing to change themselves are =SUM
formulas.

So - I insert a row at the bottom of the list, right above the line
that has sums, counts, etc. I realize that this is normally bad form,
because the inserted line will be outside the sum range and it won't
update.

Well, when I then enter data in a particular cell in the new line, the
cursor takes off (slowly) and the sum formulas update all on their own
to now include the inserted line! There are no macros in this
workbook! I can't find any attribute to either the sum formula or to
the cell that appears to trigger the formula updating that would appear
to be causing this.

Please help . . .
