Fill colour a cell from the linked cell

How do i get a cell to use the colour from the cell it is linked to.

Cell A1 is reading the date from cell D1

If i was to add a fill colour to cell D1 is there a way that cell A1 would
automatically change to the same colour?

Hi Stephen,
It is not part of Excel, and automatically implies a macro.

If the color in D1 is from Conditional Formatting you would use
the same exact formula that you used for column D, simply
select both columns when doing the C.F.

If you were coloring cells in D using a change Event macro,
you would include column A at the same time.

You can manually copy the formatting and then use
Edit, Paste Special, formats to paste into column A.

A color change will not trigger an Event macro, so hopefully you were
using Conditional Formatting. (limit of 3 colors + default colorations)
