Interview with a Recruiter
I have an excel test at an interview with a recruiter. I have been using
Excel for some time but need to know what kind of skills would the test consist of. IF anyone has any relevant answers, please reply asap. |
I have never taken nor given an Excel test, but I would suggest that if you
know about - functions (SUMIF, MATCHG, INDEX, VLOOKUP, etc.) - graphs - pivot tables - number formats (currency, percentage, etc.) - conditional formatting - data validation - sorting - filtering - Excel options (manual./automatic calculation, etc.) to a reasonable level you will be okay. Beyond that is getting more than competent. If it is specifically for Excel you may need more and also VBA, but remember, as with all interviews, try and wrest the initiative, when given a lead, take it and offer your knowledge and skills, don't wait to be asked. I had to do an excel test with a recruiter about 7 years ago. One of the
things they tested was Scenarios - I remember because I had never used them before and haven't used them since. Also the test I did was an online program which asked you to perform a task in Excel and then tracked your response. I found it responded better to using the Menus e.g EditCopy rather than ctrl+c. My 2 cents. I recently did an excel test which measures productivity as well. The productivity is more if you use more of keyboard shortcuts instead of using Menus to navigate. Regards Govind. That is an interesting comment. I would think that is so subjective. Person ally I am shortcuts person, but I always thought it was because I was brought up in pre-GUI days, my younger colleagues are far more mouse-oriented. Regards Bob "Govind" wrote in message ...
