What are the file extensions that start with Excel- I want to limit some
Norton AV screening that takes far too long when Excel starts.

I am using the Analysis tool pack, Analysis VBA, Conditional sum, VBA
internet, Lookup wizard, Solver Add-in.

If you limit AV, is there any point having it? Excel files are a natural
target for viruses with scripting.

open up windows explorer Tools Folder Options File Types
Click File Types and look for file extensions with Microsoft Office Excel
and Microsoft Excel.

Add-ins such as you have posted have the extension ".XLA"

i.e ATP uses Funcres.xla

ATP also loads Analys32.XLL

Solver.xla has an additional Solver.DLL that is loaded.

Hi Michael

You can turn off scanning of Office files when you open Excel or ?
Look in the options in Norton AV for Office plugin

Before you open the file it is already checked so there is no use to
do it again when you open the file
