They are read only because they are on a cd. You cant just change them and save them back on to the CD. Copy them to a local folder, edit them there and then write them back to the CD if its rewritable. Or use one of the fancy Cd rewriting programs. -- jacob.metcalfe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jacob.metcalfe's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=27105 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=466256 |

After you use windows explorer to copy the files from the CD to the harddrive,
you can select the files (as many as you want), rightclick on them and choose properties. You can remove the readonly attribute on the General tab. read only problems wrote: I tryed to copy or save thew files in My Doucuments and I get a msg: can not save the folder is marked read only...............everytime I change the attributes they go back to read only status, Help "read only problems" wrote: I have files on a CD, when I open them in excel they say "read only". You don't have the file open in any other application, do you?
(I opened a test file in excel and could still change the attributes, but not all programs may be so nice.) If you reboot your pc (just to make sure nothing running hidden has control of that file), can you change the attributes? read only problems wrote: Thanks for your help, i was not able to save the files to my documents but i was able to save them to the C drive but when I try to remove the "read only" I get a msg: that an error has occured and "access denied" and it will not change the attributes???
