Statistics - help needed

Hi,

I have some difficulties in producing statistics reports.

i.e. I have a column named Countries with a list of countries which
occur more than once. I would like to get a stat report about the
percentage of each country within the whole list.

Or, I would like to get a stat report regarding how two different
columns affect the third one.

I would like to add that each column is filled with character data and
not numeric one.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

You could use a number of cells with COUNTIF() functions, But in your case a
pivot table is much easier. Make sure the first row above the country column
has a label in it. Then pull-down Data pivot table report click next on
the next two screens. On the third screen click Layout and you will see
three rectangular fields.

Drag your label into both the Row and Data rectangle (in the data area it
should say something like count of countries). Click OK and then click
finish.

In the resulting table just divide the total for each country by the grand
total and format as percentage.

Maybe I did something wrong.

I'll give you another example of what I need:
The table is as follows:

Years in Sport ---- Interest

2------------------- Technique
5------------------- Mental
3------------------- Tips
...------------------- ...
1------------------- Training

Now, I would like to get a chart/report of the likelyhood or percentage
of the people who are in the range of 0-3 years (and other ranges) in
the sport and what are their interest. So in the end, I will have the
percentage of every group age range and their interest.

I did not manage to do it with a pivot-table.

Can someone help?

Thanks.
