Syntax suggestion beneath formula bar
 

You know that many of you have seen the little feature where Excel
reminds one of the syntax for the formula he tries to enter? For
example, if I were to type:
=AVERAGE(
Instructions would pop up reminding me that the formula takes the shape
of =AVERAGE(number1, number2...

Now, is that feature newer than Excel 2000, or is it turned off on this
machine?

To clarify (and boy did my grammar and punction suck in that last
post), I'm not talking about the big box (where it lets the user input
each range one by one without need for syntax) that one can prompt by
clicking on the = key, but rather the little yellowish box with one
line that reminds the user of the proper syntax.

That was added in xl2002.

But you could type:
=average(
and hit ctrl-shift-a to get a little help.
