How do I stop auto converting Text(Inventory#) to Dates

I there a way to Stop Excel from auto converting Text (Inventory Part
Numbers) to Dates.

I can't find an Option to turn this off for this project.

If a cell is formatted as General and you put something into it that looks
like a date, Excel will try to "help" you by converting it into a date.

Solution: Format the cell(s) as Text prior to entering data into them and
Excel will leave them alone.

Good Luck
