How can I transpose a paste link?
 

I would like to link one long row of cells from one worksheet to one long
column of cells on another. I have to do this in many cases, so paste-linking
one cell at a time is not feasible. How can I transpose a paste-link
operation?

on 2nd sheet build links back to 1st sheet along the row as normal
then select cells with the links
then Paste Special Transpose

you end up with row formulas etc being convertd down a column

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your solution, but it does not work for me.
When I follow your instructions, I get a column of cell references in which
the row numbers increment; I want the column numbers (or letters) to
increment. I.e., as I go down column A from row 1 to 2 to 3, I want the
column reference to increment from A to B to C.

I recall that an earlier version of Excel allowed paste-transpose and
paste-link in the same operation, but Excel 2003 does not seem to allow it.

I will try the solution proposed by Dave Peterson. (Somehow, I posted my
question to this forum twice; Dave answered my other post.)
