hi, can i assign a commandbutton sub() to a custom button to sit in the
toolbar? and how do i assign a vb macro to this custom button? and is there a
way to change the look to the custom button to something apart from the
smiley face? thanks

Hi Rick

Try dragging the Smiley onto a toolbar, then right click on it and
select Edit button image, a large version of the smiley will appear in
a dialogue box, you can change the individual squares in the large
image to form any pattern/picture you require
