is there a way to use the currency format in a conditional sum?
I want to add more values arranged in a column, but the numbers are formatted
differently - some of them are formatted with the dollar currency and others with the Euro currency. Is there a way to use the sumif on this column? How can I make a real difference between the two types of formatting, since I see Excel treats all as numbers. Thank you |
Short of writing code there is no way I'm aware of to use the format
properties of other cells to arrive at a sum of those cells. However, if you have a list of Euro figures and Dollar figures, they must be labeled somehow, probably in a different column, to allow someone viewing the list to make sense of it all. Is there any commonality between the Euro labels and the Dollar labels? If yes, then you can use any of a number of functions to arrive at your totals. What additional info do you have to work with? |
