Backup in Saving a file in Excel 2002

Hey that AutoSafe sounds great!
Microsoft should add that functionality !!!!!
Why should users have to go adding in
such obvious necessary utilities?
and I agree, the help function is really
clunky now.

Hi
a repost from Dave Peterson:
------
Short descriptions:

Autosave (an addin in xl versions before xl2002), the workbook gets
saved at
user selectable intervals (just like a manual save). (If you're
running
xl2002+, then if you can find a copy of autosave, it'll work with that
version,
too.)

xl2002+ has a feature called autorecovery. It's used to catch
catestrophic
events (excel/windows crashing). But it won't help if you never save
or you
close excel normally.

But Jan Karel Pieterse has an addin that's the best of both worlds:
AutoSafe
(note spelling)

It doesn't overwrite the existing workbook when it saves. It saves to
a user
selectable folder. And when it's done, it either deletes these backups
(or puts
them in the recycle bin). And the user can always restore the backups
from the
recycle bin.

=====
You may want to get a copy of Jan Karel's addin. It might save a few
tears in
the future.

(look for AutoSafe.zip, not autosafeVBE.zip, for your purposes.)

Thanks for your help

Well I tried to install Autosafe and it was too
much a pain to wade through the Macro
security errors and stuff... Microsoft warns
against installing the macro as it is not "signed"
and so there again, why doesn't Microsoft
incorporate something like this... it has been
a need since day one with Excel !!!!!
