SAVE is not available in Excel under FILE. How do I get it back?
For some reason, SAVE as well as SAVE AS is not available any more under the
FILE menu. Also the SAVE icon on the menu is unavailable. What do I need to do to make these available? |
Just Restore your toolbars. :) See:

The tool bar is there but the icon is grayed out. The same thing with SAVE
and SAVE AS under FILE. Hi ldk
Try this then Maybe you have a corrupt or bloated xlb file *normal* size is < 30 kb. The .xlb file has all Toolbar customization in it. 1. Close Excel 2. Do a search for .xlb in Windows 3. Rename the file you find (In 2002 the name = Excel10.xlb) 4. Start Excel Deleting the file or renaming will do no harm on your system Excel will create a new one for you. (You lost your customization remember that) If you make your own toolbars or add buttons to the others this file is important (backup it so you can restore it) -- Regards Ron de Bruin http://www.rondebruin.nl "ldk" wrote in message ... My mistake. I thought I had renamed the file but had not. This did fix the
problem. Thank you very much!!! "Ron de Bruin" wrote: Hi ldk Try this then Maybe you have a corrupt or bloated xlb file *normal* size is < 30 kb. The .xlb file has all Toolbar customization in it. 1. Hi
Do you have the same problem if you run Excel in Safe modus ? Try opening Excel without any Add-ins or hidden workbooks: StartRun "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Safe Or Excel.exe /Safe -- Regards Ron de Bruin http://www.rondebruin.nl "ldk" wrote in message ... Make sure you rename all the *.xlb files you find. There could be more than
one! Look in hidden folders, too. And if that doesn't help, maybe you got hit. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308360 OFF2000: Error Messages Caused by Nimda Virus When You Open or Save Files in Office Programs (It's kind of close.) ldk wrote: This did not fix my problem.
