Default TIME LINE?

For simplicity's sake, let's say I have 3 tasks that overlap in terms of the
time that they will take to complete. I will work on Task 1 from August 1 to
August 20; Task 2 from August 15 through August 31; and Task 3 from August
5th through August 19th. I would like a graph that shows three horizontal
bars, each a different color, neither of the bars on top of the other (so
that I can see each of the three bars). I want the dates in August on the x
axis and the bars to extend across their corresponding date range.

Can this be done?

How would I format the data for the chart. I guess I'm asking Excel to
consider the y axis value to be a fixed value (so that I can separate the 3
bars) and then I'm asking that the x point actually be a range. ??

Literally, confused in Houston....
