Sheet protection; can't use AutoFilter

I want to protect a sheet, but I want to still be able to use the
AutoFilter. How would I do this? Do I have to unprotect the cells that
are in the AutoFilter range?

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Good afternoon Malik641

You can use an autofilter on a protected page, but Excel won't do it
automatically for you - you need to tell it how to do it. Debra
Dalgleish has an article that discusses it here :
