Can't publish Excel list to Sharepoint

In trying to publish Excel list to Sharepoint (push from Excel to
Sharepoint), I get the msg "Cannot connect to server at this time. Your list
cannot be published".
I am able to "pull" the same spreadsheet into Sharepoint, using Create List,
Import Spreadsheet. I have done the workaround in KB838703 with same results.
Any other suggestions ?

Thanks.

Sounds like an issue on the SharePoint end, rather than with Excel.

And I don't mean that smart -- I just know little about SharePoint as
we're just starting to implement it at work.

Good luck!

2 things

1) Do you have permission to 'create' lists on the server (Web Designer or
above)
2) You simply use the server name (e.g. Companyweb), do not use a specific
page. The list is set up in a folder bearing the list name

Hi Nick --

I'll check access rights to the site, although I think I'm set because I was
able to pull a new list into Sharepoint.

As to the 2nd comment, I think I want a List of Lists
List called "Reports" with link on Quick Launchbar calls a page with
the Excel posted lists. If I simply post to the server, how do I see them ?
Would the Reports list be set up to view a category of lists (my Excel
postings)?
Thanks for your help !

If your list is called Reports, it will be set up as a separate list with a
url similar to

http://companyweb/reports/default.aspx

In other words it sets up a new 'List'. You can then go in to settings
against this list and set it to appear on the 'quick launch' bar if that's
what you want
