working as a csv file, help needed
i am currently using a spreadsheet that is in xl format, i downloaded it as a
csv, and as instructed saved as an xl file, i have since spent a very long time completing the spreadsheet and its good! but to send the spreadsheet back to the program i am using it has to be as a csv, so ok i done all of this and it goes but i have a major problem, when i open the document in its new form in the program, one of the coloumns which is vital does not display as it should, there are 6 rows of text in total but after and before each line of text i get a comma, it looks awful but in truth i can live with this, then after row 4 of text there is nothing , there should be a text line that is itself a link (according to my html) but nothing, i include below my (MY) html text that is in my xl spreadsheet, help please <P align=center<STRONG<FONT size=4,Exhibition 2,</FONT</STRONG</P<P align=center<FONT face=Arial<STRONG<FONT size=4,Future Heroes,</FONT</STRONG</P<P align=center<STRONG<FONT size=4,LOST . Beltram,
A csv file contains only the text you see in the cells. It contains no underlying cell stuff, like formulas (you get only the current results of the formula when the file was saved), Conditional formatting (you don't even get formatting with a csv file, hence no colors, not bold, etc.), and no hyperlink information (again, just what you see in the cell- not the hyperlink target). You can't pass all that magic back to the application with a csv file. Just text. -- Earl Kiosterud www.smokeylake.com "beltram16" wrote in message ... i am currently using a spreadsheet that is in xl format, i downloaded it as a csv, and as instructed saved as an xl file, i have since spent a very long time completing the spreadsheet and its good! but to send the spreadsheet back to the program i am using it has to be as a csv, so ok i done all of this and it goes but i have a major problem, when i open the document in its new form in the program, one of the coloumns which is vital does not display as it should, there are 6 rows of text in total but after and before each line of text i get a comma, it looks awful but in truth i can live with this, then after row 4 of text there is nothing , there should be a text line that is itself a link (according to my html) but nothing, i include below my (MY) html text that is in my xl spreadsheet, help please <P align=center<STRONG<FONT size=4,Exhibition 2,</FONT</STRONG</P<P align=center<FONT face=Arial<STRONG<FONT size=4,Future Heroes,</FONT</STRONG</P<P align=center<STRONG<FONT size=4,LOST .
