Different passwords for each tab in workbook
Can I set different tabs in a workbook to have a different password. I'd
like to be able to distribute a single workbook to a group of sales reps and I don't want them to see each other's information. |
Tools Protection Protect Sheet works on the individual active sheet.
Each sheet can have its own password. It's not too hard to crack this password, or to use formulas to retrieve the values in protected sheets. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ Pasko1 wrote: Can I set different tabs in a workbook to have a different password. No no no, sorry. If you want someone to not see something, DO NOT put that
something in an Excel file that (s)he can access. It is not safe. Do not give that single workbook to anyone. Split it up and give away only what each user is supposed to see. HTH. Different passwords for each tab in workbook
I am looking to do this same task. I want to distrubute a workbook to several
employees. I don't want them to be snooping around at the other tabs. I just want each person to be able to open the file, click on their tab, type in their password, and see their information. Can you do this, or does it have to be done to the entire workbook? i want them to be able to edit their sheet though. This kind of Worksheet/workbook protection can be broken very easily. If you
have information that you don't want others to see, don't put it in excel. If you have to use excel, then don't share the workbook with others. deidra wrote: I am looking to do this same task.
