Ms - Query
I've been struggling with this for some time now and hope that I'm missing something simple. Is it possible to switch the source of a table in MS-Query. The situation. I've created large excel data tapes (150+ fields) which are populated from a SQL Server view via MS-Query. My company has decided to move these views onto a different server. The view I will be using will be the exact same only coming from a different location. Is there an easy way to modify the source of data in MS-Query without rebuilding the entire thing? Please tell me yes. ;) Any help will greatly be appreciated. -- jmancuso ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jmancuso's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=25132 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=386312 |
If you click on the SQL button you will get a the text of the SQL statement.
Save this in a text file (notepad) and then make a new connection to your new server and paste the SQL statement in to the new query. This should work. Thank you for the response. I have tried this. The column order in the spreadsheets have been moved around from the actual SQL text column order. WHen i copy and paste as you suggested and re-execute the order is out of whack. Usually not a problem but whoever re-adjusted the columns in the spreadsheet did so with the intention they wouldn't change again (basically they can't change). Just a pain in the butt due to the number of fields involved.
