Edit Paste Issue

I am new to this forum, and have this weird problem starting today. I
open a spreadsheet with 2 datacells in a column and then 3 formukas
based on the data cells or the prior formula below the data cells. the
formulas are very simple and work fine. I then want to copy these cells
(5 cells in a column) to the neighboring column.
I select the five cells, press CTRL-C (or click EDIT - COPY) then
select the next column top row, precc CTRL-V (or click EDIT - PASTE).
The five cells appear to be copied but the formula cells contain values
not formulas. If I try to copy them by (click EDIT - PASTE SPECIAL) it
brings up a menu I have not seen prior to today with PASTE AS UNICODE
TEXT or TEXT as options, not the window with
ALL/FORMULAS/VALUES/FORMATS, etc that I am used to. If I selct and
copy only a single cell, and do Paste special, then the normal window
pops up. What happened?? Did i change something inadvertantly? can
I change it back???

Any help would be appreciated.

Whenever any program is acting "funny", closing down and then opening back
up will normally fix the strange behavior. Sometimes a reboot will fix odd
things.
