MSWORD to EXCEL

How do I import and retain formatting from MSWord into an Excel document so
that the data does not come into excel as an object, but will paste into the
cells/columns correctly?

If you have a table in Word, it will copy and paste into the spreadsheet, but
not sure how to keep the formatting, font, etc.
