![]() I have set up a new spreadsheet and I am hoping to keep from over-riding it inadvertently. Is there a way to fix the spreadsheet that it is not possible to save over top - you have to save as with a new file name. -- denhar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ denhar's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=24089 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=383152 |

Another option is to use windows explorer to mark the .xls as readonly.
(But anyone can change that attribute, too.) If you're really worried, maybe putting the workbook on a shared drive that only you have write access would be best. You'll have to contact your IT folks to set it up (a guess). denhar wrote: I have set up a new spreadsheet and I am hoping to keep from over-riding it inadvertently. No. This is a windows setting and only affects that one file.
Or did you mean the readonly network drive? The users would have to save to a drive/folder they have write access to. denhar wrote: but wouldn't that make all .xls files read only? -- denhar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ denhar's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=24089 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=383152 -- Dave Peterson |
