Hello,

I have a sheet with a bunch of links to external data, which is just
another workbook. The links are created with a formula. Now, the links will
not update unless I have the other books open too. Is there a way to update
them automatically? Excel doesn't want to ask me if I want to update them
automatically.

Check under Tools/Options/Edit and make sure Ask To Update Automatic Links is
checked.
