Autocomplete numbers help pls!

Hi,

I find the autocomplete helps me save time but I was wondering if
there
is a feature that filters the possible matches with the more letters
that are input.
.....

I have a drop down list of 800 clients.
Each entry starts with an account number followed by the ID.
e.g. 12345 asmith.

What I want it to do is narrow down the possible matches as soon as I
type
in 123 or 1234 so I can then choose the match. However it only does the
autocomplete after I enter the account
number and then the first letter of the ID.
e.g. when I enter "12345 a", then it will autocomplete with "12345
asmith".

any help would be most appreciated!

thanks,

TCollick

I think I'd cheat.

Maybe you can choose another character to start the string.

x1234 abcd

Then come back and replace that character with nothing.

(If you use x in any of the IDs, how about x-1234 abcd?)

abcd

under windows i think there's not, but after typing the 3 first digits,

you may :

right-clic and choose the list of choice option
OR
type ALT + DOWN (i suppose this is the better way with keyboard only)

then you'll have a list of values begining with your entry

if too long for you you may type ESC (or clic again in the cell) and
then type more digits and then again ALT+DOWN

This does not give an auto-updated list while you're typing
but this gives you a list after a few typing

maybe this could be enought for you. What do you think ?

Thank!

I will use alt down.

That will save me some time.

regards,
