You might find it more convenient to just select the cell below the rows you want frozen, and to the right of any columns you want frozen, then do the freeze command. Rows above the selected cell are frozen, and columns to the left also. If you scrolled down one row (maybe it's more for print, but you don't want to see it on the screen), then row 1 would be off the top, and remain so during the freeze.
