can you customize a keyboard short cut in excel?

can someone tell be if this is possible? I use the copyright symbol often
and would like to have a shortcut for it.

You could create a macro so that Ctrl-a, for example, would insert a
symbol into the cell. Or clicking a button would put the symbol into
the cell.

I don't know that you can customize a key directly as you really want
though. Perhaps someone wiser will speak up....

If you type (c), then Office's AutoCorrect will change it to a "©".

If you don't like typing those three characters, maybe you could choose a
combination of seldom used characters that you could use instead (@@ or !!).

tools|autocorrect options|autocorrection tab

This is shared between the programs in Office (Word, excel, powerpoint...)
