how to get menus back

Hi,

In my Excel 2003 work sheets (running on Windows XP Pro SP2 (updated)),
the menus at the top and toolbars disappear after some time. How do I
get them back? And how do I prevent this from happening in future?

thanks,
Sam.

Any chance the excel window is just off the viewable screen?

If no, then how about trying this:

Tools|Customize|Toolbars tab
select "worksheet menu bar"
and check it (to make it visible)

Then do the same for both Standard and Formatting toolbars.

If that doesn't help, you can reset your toolbars to factory defaults...

close excel
windows start button|search
look for *.xlb
(in hidden folders, too)

Rename all you find to *.xlbOLD

Then restart excel. If that worked, just delete the *.xlbOLD files and redo any
customized changes you've made.

If it didn't work, then you can rename the *.xlbOLD files back to *.xlb--and
keep looking for a solution.

And if you actually can see the menubar, then maybe you're in full screen mode:
View|Full screen
to get back to normal.
