How do i turn it off
 

Hi,

Im using office 2003 and if a click and hold the left mouse button and
move the cursor out of the cell and release the mouse button the cells
stay highlighted and follow me around the worksheet.

Is there anyway to change this so that when i release the mouse button
the cells de-highlight

Does it work properly if you release the mouse button, and then again
left-click once (click and release the second time)

yes although the problem seems to be intermittant
