Any insight into cause of Autofilter buttons to stop working?

My auto filter buttons work - and then stop (will not drop down) for no
currently apparent reason. I can send one for analysis.

Did you ever find an answer to this problem? I've had it for quite a while
now and it's driving me crazy! I can't believe I don't see more posts with
this question.

Did you delete some names from your workbook/worksheet?

If yes, then you could have deleted a hidden name created by excel.

Maybe this'll help...

Select your cells with the arrows -- just the header row is enough.

Then Insert|name|Define
in the names in workbook box, type this:

'Sheet1'!_FilterDatabase

(change sheet1 to match your worksheet name.)

I have been having this problem too. I have tried to resolve it by
copy/pasting my data on to new spreadsheets, where the autofilter works
for a while and then freezes up again. I have been using filters for
years without problem and only encountered this problem in the last few
weeks.

When I click on the drop-down, it does not bring up the list, so I
can’t change the filter selection. Likewise I can’t use the filters on
any of the other columns.
If I use “data / filter / un-click Autofilter”, the drop-down boxes
disappear, but the rows remain hidden. I have to the use “format / rows
/ unhide” to get them back again.

And I don't have any blank rows / named cells etc.

Sorry this isn't an answer, just another instance of the problem.

Thanks, nice to know there's more than a few of us. I wish there were an
answer. I must say that I'm surprised that there aren't more people with
this problem. It's very annoying.
