Clarification - how to automatically update cells with a date and date range

I need to clarify my question. I would like to update a date range, for a six day timeframe such as 08/01/10 to 08/07/10 in one cell then in other parts of the spreadsheet update single cells such as Mon. 1, Tues. 2, etc. The days of the week are already there. Each Friday I print out these spreadsheets for the upcoming week, Monday through Sunday. At the moment I have to go in and update each cell manually. It's very time consuming. Is there an easier way to do this? I'm using excel 2003. I'm a novice with Excel but I'm teachable. Any help would be appreciated!
