Hi,
circular reference means you have included in a formula the cell where the
formula is, in excel 2007 go to Formulas, Formula Auditing, Error
Checking,Circular References, and then click the first cell listed in the
submenu.

You may want to try Stephen Bullen's utility:
http://www.oaltd.co.uk/Excel/Default.htm
Look for FindCirc.zip

Circular reference occurs, when ur refering the same cell in the formulae. (just like cutting a tree by sitting on one of its branch).

find the circular reference cell and rectify the formulae, just removing the formulae may not right thing always.

there are two ways to find the circular reference in the spreadsheet

option 1: please refer to attached screen shot. very easiest way to find the circular reference without touching any menu bar (both in excel 2003 and excel 2007 versions)

option 2: in excel 2007 version: go to formulae bar , then error checking, then circular references
in excel 2003, go to view, then tool bars, then circular reference

all the best
