edited spreadsheet saves as template
Each time I save my Excel spreadsheet after editing it saves as template.
This has created a problem with duplicate copies of the spreadsheet. I'm using Office 2003 version. How do I stop this from happening? |

One particular workbook or any workbook?
Do they(it) open as *.xls and save as *.xlt I would first check ToolsOptionsTransition and see what file format is selected as default "Save format" Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Fri, 26 Mar 2010 13:07:01 -0700, marysully wrote: Each time I save my Excel spreadsheet after editing it saves as template. Thanks for your reply.
It seems to be any workbook I do edits on. I just created a test excel workbook, and after I opened and edited it, it created a template. Original file name: new book.xls Name of additional file created after editing: new book.xls~RF4d66ca4d.TMP. I did check under Transitions, and I am set for "Save Excel Files as: Microsoft Office Excel Workbook" "Gord Dibben" wrote: One particular workbook or any workbook? That is not a Template...........it is a temporary file which Excel creates
whenever a workbook is opened and is normal behaviour for Office applications. These *.tmp files are usually deleted when the workbook is closed and/or Excel has been closed. Sometimes you have to re-boot to get rid of them. Gord On Fri, 26 Mar 2010 15:08:02 -0700, marysully wrote: Thanks for your reply. It seems to be any workbook I do edits on.
