Excel 2007 SP2 Bug?

The following procedure causes Excel to hang. We have tested on XP and
Windows 7 (x32 and x64) machines. It does it with SP1 or SP2:

1. Open Excel and select Format\Protect Sheet
2. Select Locked Cells, Select Unlocked Cells, Insert Hyperlinks
3 While protected, right click on the icon in the upper left corner next to
the A and above the 1 (the select all button... but you have to right click
on it). This will cause Excel to hang.

Any suggestions... seems like a bug.

Excel 2007 SP2 Bug?

Hm,

I tested this on E2003 and all is fine but as you say on E2007 the
application locks up with the processor running flat out.

I also tested it on E2010 and that hangs too. It will be interesting to hear
the thoughts of others who may have an insight as to what is going on in 2007
& 2010

When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that
introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the
question.

It happens here, too. But is only using 50% of my CPU
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
6.1.7600 Build 7600
Intel Core 2 CPU 6700 @2.66GHz
Excel (12.0.6514.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)

Ron,

I think 50% of CPU is actually flat out on a dual core procesor system.

I don't understand. The performance screen showed 50% on #1; and 50% on #2. I
think I've seen higher values.
