You need to do conditional formatting for the cells
In 2007
On the Home tab under styles section select conditional formatting
Select Highlight cell rules -between - enter 1 & 6 - custom format (via drop
down menu) fill - red - OK
That will have the effect of filling the cell with red as required. It will
still show the number input if your font color is anything other than red.
If you want to have the cell simply red (Ha!) then format the font as well as
the fill.
