Pivot tables - adding dates, descriptions
 
I am not understanding a basic process in the pivot tables.

I have a simple table of subcontracts for my construction company. The
fields a
Job#
Contract #
Vendor
Date
Contract item #
Description

I can make a pivot table that shows the contract item #'s as a row label and
then the sum of the valuse as a seperate column.

What I want to show is the date and the description of each contract item,
so that the pivot table would look something like this:

Contract item #1 12/18/09 framing $18,000
Contract item #2 12/22/09 window prep $2,300

I can add date and description as Row Labels, but then they each create a
seperate row, and I would like all of the information to be on one row,with
the values at the end.
Any help is much appreciated

Len, I am looking at this right now.

Question please: you mention a figure of $ 18,000.

Which column (in the underlying data) does this come from?

As far as I can see your columns:-

Job#
Contract #
Vendor
Date
Contract item #
Description

- do not have a, "number" field (from which the figure of $ 18,000 is
derived).
