Error on opening file from taskbar
I am using Excel 2007 with Windows 7 on a ThinkPad X61. When I right-click
the Excel icon on the TaskBar, and then click on any spreadsheet shown in the list I get the message "There was a problem sending the command to the program." The same error happens if I click on the same file from a folder view although I can easily open it via the Excel menus. As I really like this feature of Windows 7, it's a real annoyance. -- Richard I Morris Jr |

I'm not sure if this will help you at all, but I suppose it's worth a try:
In Excel 2007, click the Office Button then click the [Excel Options] button down at the lower right corner of that window. Choose the [Advanced] group and scroll down into the 'General' area (very near the bottom). Try changing the setting of the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)". Click [OK] to accept the change, close Excel and then reopen it (just to make sure it 'sees' the change) and test if it works any better for you.
